Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has praised his players for showing tremendous character, belief and determination in their crucial 3-1 victory over South Korea at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Ghana entered the game knowing that nothing short of a victory would strengthen their chances of advancing to the knockout stage of the competition for the first time in the nation’s history.
The Black Princesses responded with an impressive performance to secure all three points, with Coach Sampson attributing the victory to the team’s strong mentality and belief in themselves.
“The team actually showed up. They showed up with the character that we know they have in the team, the belief they have in themselves and in each other, and today they exhibited exactly how it should be, with a lot of enthusiasm and passion,” Sampson said after the game.
The victory puts Ghana in a strong position heading into their final Group F fixture against France.
The Black Princesses will now need a favourable result against the French side to secure qualification to the knockout stage and potentially make history by reaching the last 16 for the first time.
Ghana will face France in their final group game, with their qualification hopes now firmly in their own hands.
