Bibiani GoldStars deputy captain and goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi is confident of maintaining his impressive unbeaten record against Accra Hearts of Oak when the two sides meet at Duns Park on Sunday afternoon.
Kobi says he has never suffered defeat against the Phobians since he began playing in the Ghana Premier League and is determined to ensure that record remains intact when GoldStars host Hearts of Oak.
Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, the experienced goalkeeper expressed his confidence in extending his unbeaten run against the former league champions.
“I think I have never lost a game against Hearts of Oak since making my debut in the Ghana Premier League, and that record is going to continue again,” he said.
GoldStars will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing start to the campaign after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United in Matchweek One. The Bibiani-based side will be eager to secure their first points of the season in front of their home supporters.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, head into the fixture with confidence after an impressive 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the University of Ghana Stadium in their opening game.
The Phobians will be looking to build on that emphatic result, but they face a difficult task against a GoldStars side determined to make home advantage count.
Interestingly, Hearts of Oak have not recorded a Premier League victory at Duns Park since the 2020/21 season, adding further intrigue to Sunday’s encounter.
With Kobi determined to preserve his unbeaten record against Hearts and GoldStars desperate for their first win of the season, the stage is set for an intriguing battle in Bibiani.
