Asante Kotoko will host Karela United FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon, with both sides looking to strengthen their starts to the Ghana Premier League campaign.

Kotoko have collected five points from their opening four matches but come into the fixture after a 2-0 home defeat to Aduana FC last Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping to respond quickly and return to winning ways in front of their supporters.

Karela, meanwhile, travel to Kumasi on the back of a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak, their second win of the season. They have scored in all four of their league matches so far, but their away form remains a concern.

The Tamale-based side are winless in their last four league games on the road, with one draw and three defeats. They have conceded at least twice in each of their last three away losses, with their last away victory coming against Dreams FC in February 2026.

Kotoko have also enjoyed the upper hand in recent meetings at Baba Yara, remaining unbeaten in their last six league encounters with Karela in Kumasi. They have won three of those matches, while the other three ended in 1-1 draws.

With Kotoko seeking a response and Karela aiming to improve their away record, Thursday’s meeting promises another competitive Matchweek Five contest.
