Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has criticised his team’s performance after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Debibi United on Matchday 1 of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors took an early lead through Dogo Yakubu, but Debibi United fought back in the second half, with Richard Owusu scoring twice to put the hosts in front.
Kotoko eventually secured a share of the spoils, but Tinkler was far from impressed with his team’s display, particularly their lack of composure and tendency to concede unnecessary fouls.
“I don’t think we did enough to win this game,” Tinkler said in his post-match interview.
“The performance itself, I’m not entirely happy. On the ball, we were very poor, not good enough in terms of our composure.
“We kept giving the ball away and made it very difficult for ourselves. A draw is a fair outcome.”
The result leaves Kotoko seventh on the league table after the opening round of matches.
The Porcupine Warriors will now look to bounce back when they host Heart of Lions in their next league fixture.
