Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko remains confident in his side’s chances of overturning their first-leg defeat to TP Mazembe and advancing to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
The Ghana Premier League champions suffered a 1-0 defeat at the TNA Stadium, conceding a late goal against the Congolese giants in their historic first-ever Champions League match at home.
Despite the setback, Tanko believes Medeama can produce a strong performance in the return fixture in Lubumbashi on Sunday.
“The only option we have to go to the next round is to win the return fixture. It wouldn’t be easy, but I am sure we have a chance to win over there,” he said.
A large crowd in Tarkwa turned out to support the Yellow and Mauves as the club marked a historic occasion by hosting its first CAF Champions League game at the TNA Stadium.
Medeama delivered a competitive performance but were unable to reward their passionate supporters with a positive result.
Tanko and his players must now find a way to overturn the deficit in Lubumbashi if they are to keep their CAF Champions League campaign alive.
