The University of Ghana (UG) has departed Accra for Cairo, Egypt, ahead of the 12th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games scheduled for 8th to 16th September, 2026.
The contingent is made up of 23 student-athletes and 8 coaches and officials who will represent the university at the continental showpiece, which brings together top universities from across Africa.
Director of Sports at the University of Ghana, Dr. Austin Luguterah, says the team is well-prepared and motivated to excel. According to him, the athletes have shown great commitment in training and are ready to compete with the best on the continent.
“The team has prepared adequately and we are confident they will make the university proud. We are not just going to participate, but to compete and bring honour to the University of Ghana and Ghana as a whole,” Dr. Luguterah said.
The FASU Games in Cairo will feature various sporting disciplines and serve as a platform for talent discovery and cultural exchange among African university students.
