Ghana U-17 coach Joe Nana Adarkwa says praise and incentives have boosted the Black Maidens’ confidence ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Argentina at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
After losing 3-0 to Norway, Ghana bounced back with a 3-3 draw against Brazil and a 2-0 win over Canada to reach the knockout stage.
Adarkwa credited positive reinforcement and incentives for lifting the players’ morale.
“We praised them because, for our girls, you have to praise them all the time before you let them know their mistakes,” he said.
“We gave them some incentives to boost their morale, and now you can see that everything is on top; their spirit is on top.”
The Black Maidens will face Argentina at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, hoping to extend their historic campaign with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
