Tanzania’s national team, the Taifa Stars, will face Ghana’s Black Stars in an international friendly during the September 2026 FIFA international window.

The fixture has been announced by the Tanzania Football Federation as part of the Taifa Stars’ preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Tanzania will first play Guinea-Bissau on September 23 before facing Madagascar on September 27 in their AFCON 2027 qualifying programme. The friendly against Ghana is expected to follow those fixtures, although the exact date and venue are yet to be confirmed.

The Black Stars, meanwhile, will begin their own AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire, before hosting The Gambia. CAF has confirmed that the first two matchdays of the qualifiers will run from September 24 to October 6, 2026.

The friendly will provide newly re-appointed Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz with another opportunity to assess his squad as he begins his new mandate with the Black Stars. The Ghana Football Association confirmed Queiroz’s continuation as head coach earlier this week.

Tanzania, who are co-hosts of AFCON 2027 alongside Kenya and Uganda, have already secured automatic qualification for the tournament but will participate in the qualifying programme.

The Ghana–Tanzania friendly is expected to be confirmed with a date and venue in the coming days.
