Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo is expected to spend around eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during Manchester City’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury after coming on as a 77th-minute substitute for Jeremy Doku and is now targeting a return in December, subject to his recovery.

Semenyo’s absence would be a major setback for Ghana ahead of their crucial November double-header in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the Black Stars battling to revive their hopes of qualification.

Ghana currently sit bottom of Group C after losing their opening two matches and face a decisive international window between November 10 and 18.

The forward has made an encouraging start to life at Manchester City, registering two goals and three assists in nine appearances across all competitions.

His expected absence will also affect City’s plans across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and EFL Cup as they navigate a demanding run of fixtures.

Both club and country will monitor Semenyo’s recovery, with December emerging as the target for his possible return to competitive action.
