Ghanaian highlife legend Pat Thomas took centre stage on the October 4, 2026 edition of Onua Showtime with McBrown as the programme celebrated his 80th birthday, more than five decades in music and an enduring cultural legacy that has helped shape Ghana’s sound.

In a night filled with music, memories and heartfelt tributes, the show honoured the man widely known as the “Golden Voice of Africa.”

Before the tribute, the programme featured performances from Biadela, Arkband, Kesewaa Kessy and Dr. Adeline Baidoo.

Biadela opened the show with her song “Jesus,” with McBrown joining her on stage for a lively interaction.

Arkband later kept the energy high with a gospel performance, while Kesewaa Kessy and Dr. Adeline Baidoo also entertained viewers and promoted their upcoming projects.

The biggest moment of the evening came when Pat Thomas was welcomed onto the show.

Introduced as the “Golden Voice of Africa,” Pat Thomas delivered a performance before sitting down with McBrown and the pundits for a conversation about his remarkable journey in music. The discussion highlighted his 80th birthday and more than 50 years in the music industry, giving the show an opportunity to celebrate his incredible contribution to Ghanaian highlife.

In a touching tribute, Onua Showtime presented Pat Thomas with a citation of honour, while the pundits shared words of appreciation for the veteran musician and his lasting influence on Ghanaian music and culture.
