The National Sports Authority (NSA) is set to partner with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Horticultural Department to improve the maintenance and management of sports pitches across the country.
The partnership is expected to bring technical expertise from KNUST’s horticulture specialists into the upkeep of football pitches, with a focus on improving grass quality, drainage, irrigation and overall playing conditions.
The move forms part of efforts by the NSA to ensure that sporting facilities are properly maintained and remain suitable for competitive matches and training.
Through the collaboration, the NSA hopes to adopt more scientific and sustainable approaches to pitch management while developing local expertise in sports turf maintenance.
The partnership could also provide an opportunity for students and professionals in horticulture to gain practical experience in sports-field management.
With Ghana’s football calendar demanding quality playing surfaces, the proposed collaboration is expected to contribute to safer and better pitches for players, officials and clubs.
