The Minority in Parliament has called for National Sports Authority Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to resign or step aside over allegations surrounding World Cup visa facilitation.
Ranking Member of the Youth and Sports Committee, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, said Ankrah should take responsibility as investigations into claims of large payments from prospective World Cup travelers continue.
The Minority has raised questions about the alleged collection of more than US$600,000, including claims that some applicants paid up to US$8,000 for visa-related assistance.
Assafuah wants the President to remove Ankrah or have him step aside pending the outcome of investigations.
The NSA has denied authorising any visa facilitation or money-collection operation at its facilities and says it is ready to cooperate with any lawful investigation.
