Asante Kotoko face a stern examination of their title ambitions when they host league leaders Medeama SC in a Matchday Nine clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 1.
The Porcupine Warriors are under pressure to respond after dropping points in a 1-1 draw against FC AshantiGold 04 in the Ashanti Derby last weekend.
Sitting eighth with 12 points, Kotoko have struggled to maintain consistency, managing two victories, a draw and two defeats in their last five league outings. They have scored nine goals and conceded the same number over that period.
However, the Kumasi giants can take encouragement from their home form, having secured all three of their league victories this season at Baba Yara. Their recent head-to-head record against Medeama at the venue is also fairly encouraging, with three wins, one draw and two defeats in their last six meetings since the 2020/21 campaign.
Medeama arrive in Kumasi with momentum firmly on their side after recovering from their first league defeat of the season against FC Samartex to beat Aduana FC 1-0 last weekend.

The Tarkwa-based side have accumulated 17 points from eight matches to lead the standings, winning four of their last five games while scoring 14 goals and conceding seven.
Their attacking strength has been a major feature of their campaign, although their performances on the road remain a concern. Medeama have registered just one win, two draws and one defeat in four away league matches this season.
Sunday’s fixture will therefore provide a stern test for both sides, with Kotoko looking to use home advantage to reignite their campaign and Medeama seeking another crucial result to strengthen their grip on top spot.
With contrasting ambitions and valuable points at stake, the Baba Yara encounter is shaping up to be one of the standout fixtures of Matchday Nine.
