Heart of Lions midfielder Akwesi Mensah Melo is confident his side can secure victory over Asante Kotoko in their Matchday 2 clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Melo believes the Porcupine Warriors no longer command the fear they once did in the Ghana Premier League, insisting Heart of Lions are mentally prepared for the challenge.
“We are ready for this game. Kotoko are not an extraordinary team. They are a big club in Ghana, but we are going there for a win,” Melo said.
Heart of Lions have enjoyed the upper hand in recent league meetings between the two sides, winning three of their last five encounters against Kotoko.
Kotoko will make their first appearance at home this season after opening their campaign with a 2-2 draw against newly promoted Debibi United at the Golden City Park.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, began the season with a goalless draw against Aduana FC and will be hoping to claim their first three points when they face Kotoko.
With both sides still searching for their first league win of the campaign, Sunday’s encounter promises to be a fiercely contested battle at the Baba Yara Stadium.
