Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has taken full responsibility for Ghana’s disappointing 4-2 defeat to The Gambia on Tuesday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The result leaves Ghana facing a major setback in their bid to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the Black Stars failing to secure a victory in their opening two matches of the qualifying campaign.
Ghana’s defensive struggles have been a major concern, with the team conceding six goals in two games. The latest defeat also leaves the Black Stars at the bottom of Group C, putting increased pressure on the team ahead of their upcoming qualifiers.
Speaking after the match, Queiroz accepted responsibility for the disappointing performance and result, acknowledging that Ghana must quickly address their shortcomings if they are to revive their qualification hopes.
The Black Stars will now have to regroup and work on their defensive frailties and overall performance as they look to bounce back in their remaining AFCON 2027 qualifying matches.
