FC Ashanti Gold 04 head coach Abdul Karim Zito says he was not surprised by David Gyamfi’s outstanding performance after the striker scored a hat-trick to inspire his side to a 3-1 victory over Vision FC on Saturday afternoon at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Gyamfi delivered a commanding display to help Ashanti Gold 04 secure their first three points of the season in impressive fashion.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Karim Zito praised his team’s performance and singled out Gyamfi for his exceptional contribution to the victory.
“I wasn’t surprised by his performance because this is the way we want him to play. Against Port City, he did the same thing; he was everywhere,” Zito said.
The victory also marked a significant return for football in Obuasi, as it was the first time in four years that an Obuasi-based club had played a Premier League match at the Len Clay Stadium.
The stadium had been without top-flight football since the Ghana Football Association expelled and subsequently demoted Ashanti Gold FC in 2022.
With Gyamfi already making a strong statement at the start of the campaign, Ashanti Gold 04 will be hoping the striker’s form can help drive their push for a successful season.
