The fifth edition of the Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament will bring together 140 amateur golfers from Ghana and three other African countries at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra on Saturday, November 21, 2026.
The competition, featuring participants from Nigeria, Burundi and Kenya, was officially unveiled at the Achimota Golf Clubhouse under the theme, “Driving National Growth Through Leadership, Partnership and Golf.”
Held in honour of President John Dramani Mahama, the tournament seeks to use golf as a platform for networking, strengthening partnerships and supporting national development.
Tournament Coordinator Francis Andoh said the initiative also has a social responsibility component, with the Head of State Foundation committed to community outreach and creating opportunities for young people through the sport.
He called on sponsors and participants to support the foundation’s efforts to translate the tournament’s objectives into meaningful community impact.
First National Bank leads the list of sponsors, with BOST Energies serving as Gold Sponsor. Other partners include Samsung Ghana, Coca-Cola Ghana, Guinness Ghana, the National Petroleum Authority, Nguvu Mining Limited, Myla Homes and several other corporate organisations.
Speaking at the launch, Achimota Golf Club Board of Trustees member and African Golf Confederation General Secretary Mike Aggrey explained that the initiative was established in 2017 as a non-partisan, not-for-profit platform for bringing together government officials, business executives and industry leaders.
He said the tournament provides an informal setting for influential personalities to exchange ideas and explore partnerships on Ghana’s economic, social and political development.
Restricted to invited amateur golfers, the event targets chief executives, board chairpersons and other prominent corporate leaders.

Aggrey cited the 2018 edition in Kumasi as an example of the tournament’s impact, recalling the participation of approximately 16 ministers of state and several industry leaders.
He disclosed that the gathering facilitated direct engagements between government officials and business executives, resulting in discussions on investment opportunities, project proposals and potential business partnerships.
The overall winner of this year’s competition will receive the tournament’s prestigious giant trophy.
