Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to arrive in Ghana this week as preparations intensify for the team’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum previously confirmed that the Portuguese coach would return to the country to fine-tune preparations for the September international window.
Queiroz has already submitted his squad for the upcoming qualifiers, with the list currently going through the GFA’s internal approval process. The squad is expected to be reviewed by the Management Committee before receiving final approval from the Executive Council.
The Black Stars are set for a busy international window, beginning with an away clash against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24.
Ghana will then return home to face The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29, with the two fixtures forming the opening phase of their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
Queiroz was reappointed as Black Stars head coach on September 2 following his first spell, which ended after Ghana’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The GFA said his new mandate begins with the upcoming international window.
His return to Ghana is expected to pave the way for the final stages of preparations, including the arrival of invited players and the commencement of the team’s training programme ahead of the Côte d’Ivoire encounter.
Ghana missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and will now begin their bid to return to the continental tournament with a demanding double-header against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
