Ghanaian duo Caleb Yirenkyi and Brandon Thomas-Asante made second-half appearances for Coventry City as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Yirenkyi was introduced in the 63rd minute as Coventry looked to change the momentum of the game. The Ghanaian midfielder was involved in the closing stages, recording 18 touches and completing four accurate passes during his time on the pitch.

Thomas-Asante was also brought on in the second half but had a shorter spell on the field, featuring for just 19 minutes. The forward registered nine touches and made two recoveries before the final whistle.

Despite the contributions from the two Ghana internationals, Coventry could not find a way past Manchester City’s defence as they were condemned to a 1-0 defeat.

The game provided valuable minutes for both Yirenkyi and Thomas-Asante as they continue to compete for regular playing time and look to make a strong impression at club level.

For Ghana, the continued involvement of both players at Coventry will be closely monitored as they seek to establish themselves as important options for the Black Stars.
