Ghana goalkeeper trainer Daniel Gasper says the Black Stars are ready to respond when they face The Gambia in their second Group C match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to reigning African champions Ivory Coast in Bouaké, leaving Carlos Queiroz’s side without a point.
Malick Yalcouyé opened the scoring shortly before half-time with a superb long-range strike, before Franck Kessié doubled the hosts’ lead from the penalty spot in the 58th minute.
Ghana protested the penalty decision after Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was adjudged to have fouled Yalcouyé, but the decision stood as Ivory Coast secured all three points.
Gasper says the Black Stars must now focus on the next challenge.
“It is not the result we wanted, but it is what it is. Ivory Coast are one of the top teams in Africa; we have to respect that. We are ready for the next game,” Gasper said.
Ghana will host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off at 16:00 GMT.
The Gambians won their opening game and sit ahead of Ghana in Group C, leaving the Black Stars in need of a positive result to revive their qualification campaign.
