The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has introduced a historic two-legged final for the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup, marking the first time the final of a major Ghanaian domestic football competition will be played over two legs.

The first leg of the final is scheduled for June 5–7, 2027, with the return leg set for June 12–13, 2027.

The landmark change is aimed at giving the competition greater exposure while providing both finalists with the opportunity to host a showpiece fixture in front of their home supporters.

The decision represents a significant departure from the traditional single-match final and is expected to add a new dimension to the country’s premier knockout competition, with the trophy to be decided over two decisive encounters.

The journey to the historic final will begin with the Preliminary Round from October 23–26, 2026.

The Round of 64 will follow from November 27–30, 2026, while the Round of 32 is scheduled for February 12–15, 2027.

The quarter-finals will be played from March 19–22, 2027, with the semi-finals scheduled for April 23–26, 2027.

The competition will then culminate in the two-legged final in June, with the finalists battling across two matches for the coveted MTN FA Cup trophy.

Nations FC are the reigning champions after defeating Dreams FC 5–4 on penalties following a 1–1 draw after extra time in last season’s final.
